Hello I’m Lauralaura-head-shot-circ

Founder of Yoga Junkie I started my journey with yoga 5 years ago. I was like most people today, finding it hard to juggle all of life’s pressures, work, social, domestic, relationships, parenthood and finances. Let alone fit in Hobbies, interests and me time.

I was living unconsciously, going through the motions as they say. Just existing in life but not having an awareness of life.  My mind was in control of how I was feeling; my thoughts depicted how my day was going to go.

I had a lower back problem which was causing immense pain on a daily basis and my office job wasn’t doing it any favours.

In a nutshell I had become totally disconnected from myself.

I had recently lost my mother to cancer and she was the spiritual matriarch of our family.  All of my interests in holistic well being and alternative therapies that I had shared with her seemed somehow out of reach.

I had the urge a year or so later to research yoga class which I hoped would help my back problem and as I was feeling stiff and old and thought maybe it would help with that too.

I knew one thing was for sure, I did not want a typical yoga class. I wanted something different, something more than just getting into shapes and comparing myself to others. I certainly did not want to be competing with image conscious yogi clad bendy people, especially with my tight hamstrings! Anyway, I found somewhere that looked like what I had in mind and I enrolled on a beginner’s course. Slightly apprehensive I turned up for my first lesson.

The minute I walked in to this space I knew it was perfect for me. There were candles and soft lighting. It was warm and welcoming. The atmosphere was friendly and informal. Most importantly, a teacher with a beaming smile who greeted me as if I were an old friend.

This space is where my yogic journey began and since then I have not looked back.

Within a few months I had embarked on a teacher training course and 18 months later qualified as a Hatha Yoga Teacher.  I am currently in the midst of the advanced teacher training course.

I have found that I am stronger, healthier (free of back pain) living a happier more conscious and connected life.  I listen to my intuition more and less to my mind chatter which enables me to manage my life with less stress and anxiety.

I am more and more inspired each day at how Yoga works in your system.

I for one have become a dedicated Yogi and I can honestly say it is the best thing I have ever done for myself and my family.

My yoga journey is ongoing and I am learning more every day.

Yoga Junkie is a way for me to share my knowledge with everyone who wants yoga to be a part of their lives. I have the desire to inspire other people to get on the Yoga path even if you dedicate just a small piece of your life to this wonderful technology that has been passed down over thousands of generations.

What is Living Yoga?

Living Yoga is a simple technique. A complete package and technology which, when practiced daily, will enable you to connect to your own energy using movement and breath.

Basically, moving the body into postures with a focused mind and an awareness of your breath.

Using this simple method will take you on a path to a more conscious self empowered, balanced, healthier and happier being. If this sounds attractive to you then take the first step and enrol on a beginner Course.

Despite the Myths – you do not need to be bendy, spiritual or be a yogi person. The only thing you do need is a sense of humour and to be open and willing.

You will learn a basic home practice with online support which will enrich your life immensely.

Part of being a practitioner of Hatha yoga is to commit to a daily home practice and to endeavour to live by the ten yogic principles. These you will learn along the way.

The Yoga Junkie Premises

Located in the heart of Fareham, the space itself  situated on the first floor above what was formerly the old post office building. After laying empty and unloved for 5  years it is now being lovingly transformed into this great yoga space, which is also suitable for workshops and other related activities.  A light and spacious area with scope for at least 15 mats with plenty of room for movement .
Nearest parking is  in Malthouse Lane, which is to the rear of the building and is cheaper than the inner car parks but is free after 6 pm.

There is plenty of other parking in town only a short  walking distance away from Yoga Junkie.
